The Crazy Sexy Anxiety Bracelet
My dad is a Vietnam veteran. He's no stranger to anxiety and possibly even PTSD. Several years ago, I was crying to him, telling him that I couldn't stop the scary, negative thoughts from running through my mind and controlling me. "What if something bad happens to my kids?" "What if Mike is cheating on me?"
My dad looked at me and said, "Maggie, you need to treat these thoughts like traffic. Let them pass by you. They are just thoughts. They aren't reality."
What I was doing was the opposite. I wasn't watching my thoughts pass by like traffic. I was standing in the middle of traffic, basically causing a multi car pile up. I had to remove myself from my own thoughts.
Watch the thoughts. Let them come and go. Like moving traffic.
I want to help you get out of traffic, get out of the way and let the thoughts flow.
So . . . I made these. I wear this bracelet everyday to help me remember that I have the ability to be in control.
The Crazy Sexy Anxiety Bracelet
C for CLAIM: Claim that what you’re feeling is anxiety; it's not reality.
S for SAY YOUR MANTRA: Say, out loud, "These are just thoughts. This is just anxiety. I will let these thoughts pass by me, like traffic.”
You can also visualize your thoughts as evening traffic that's flowing on the expressway.
A for ACTION: Move your body. If you can get up and walk, do that. Moving your body is the best way to help move your thoughts. If you are unable to get up and walk, tap your hands on your knees while you say your mantra.
Each bracelet also has a Peach Moonstone bead and each one is unique. No two are alike, just like us. Peach Moonstone is a soothing and calming stone that supports the heart and stimulates the mind, soothing anxiety and bringing out the best in us.
On the back of the toggle, you'll find an M. I have been exactly where you are and all I wanted to know was that I was not alone. You are not alone. I am with you.
